For most of us making even a little bit of money online is something amazing and a dream come true. For some others it’s a daily routine, making money from their blogs is something that some people do every day. Some time back, Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net conducted a survey, that asked 1507 bloggers on their income from blogging and 4% of people said that they made over $10000 every month from blogging. 9% of bloggers said that they made above $1000 while there were a 7% who made above $100 but below $1000.
Well, a majority of people didn’t make much from blogging.
But you also need to see that most people who participated in the survey were new to blogging and had been in the field for less than 2 years.
Blogging requires patience and it’s one of the slowest ways to make an income online. But I have to say that the income is stable once you start generating some revenue with your blog.
There are many ways in which you can make money blogging
Adsense
AdSense has often been referred to as a blogger’s first love and indeed it is. It gives recurring income, it has the highest payout in the CPC industry and getting an approval is not that hard.
There are bloggers who use nothing else save AdSense on their blogs and have an income upwards of $10000 per month. It depends on the traffic on your blog and the keywords that you are targeting. If they have high CPC( cost per click) then you can earn more.
Ad sales
It involves allotting a specific portion of your site to hold a banner or advertisement of a third party service. You can sell banners in sizes ranging from 300*250 to sizes of 720*940 or more. You can charge more depending on its size and the spot that it takes on your site. For example, a header ad will always fetch more. Internet marketers like John Chow make $40000 or more per month with ad sales. People won’t accept ads on just any site. Your site must show a potential of generating clients, have a lot of traffic and readers.
Sell e books
If you are an expert on something then this should suit you. If you have a photography blog then you can write about different cameras, shutter speed, lighting tips etc.
You can combine all these posts together and sell it in the form of an ebook. Many marketers have been able to generate recurring passive income from such book sales. You write a book once and it’ll pay you for life.
Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing doesn’t require approval from any big customer and you need not have a very big blog to generate affiliate sales. It’s one of the easiest ways to start making an income through your blog.
It’s highly recommended that you become an affiliate of products that you have already used or trust.
Many bloggers are affiliates of web hosting services, premium themes, ClickBank plugins etc.
Become an expert at something and sell your expertise There’re many ways in which you can sell your expertise. For example, SEO is something that has been changing its face drastically since the beginning of 2012.
There have been various updates like the Penguin and Panda. Online marketers are scared shitless to say the least and if you can establish yourself as an authority who knows about what is going on then you will get loads of clients willing to pay you for your time.
Become an authority and sell courses on blogging, fashion, design or coach people
You can offer WordPress installation services through your blog. That way you can earn by referring people to a particular host.
You can also offer consultancy services, the potential is endless when it comes to making money from a blog.
